Horton Plains National Park is a high-altitude cloud forest culminating in World's End — an 870-metre sheer cliff drop best seen at dawn. The plateau hike is one of Sri Lanka's most rewarding short treks.
Best time to visit
January to April, and arrive by 6 am before the summit clouds over. The 9.5 km loop is best in dry weather.
Getting there
Accessed from Nuwara Eliya or Ohiya (about 1 hour up). Most visitors stay in Nuwara Eliya and drive to the park gates at dawn.
