About Ella
Ella is the laid-back hill-country hub that travellers fall in love with — misty ridges, tea-estate walks and the famous blue train. It's the base for the Nine Arch Bridge, Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak, all reachable on foot from town.
Best time to visit
January to March is driest and clearest. The train ride is magical year-round; arrive early in peak season (Dec–Apr) as the town gets busy.
Getting there
Take the scenic Kandy–Ella train (book the observation car days ahead) or drive about 2.5 hours from Kandy. Ella sits on the Badulla rail line, the line's most photogenic stretch.
