   Ancient Anuradhapura

   Negombo → Anuradhapura

   Explore the island's first capital — colossal dagobas, monastic ruins and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree.

   Day 3

   Polonnaruwa & Sigiriya

   Anuradhapura → Polonnaruwa → Sigiriya

   Cycle among the ruins of the medieval capital, then transfer to Sigiriya for an evening at leisure.

   Lion Rock & Dambulla

   Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy

   Early climb of Sigiriya rock fortress, the golden cave temples of Dambulla, then on to Kandy.

   Kandy to the Hills

   Kandy → Nuwara Eliya

   Temple of the Tooth in the morning, then the winding climb into tea country with waterfall stops along the way.

   Train to Ella

   Nuwara Eliya → Ella

   Board the famous blue train through tea estates to Ella, then walk to the Nine Arch Bridge for the afternoon train crossing.

   Yala Safari

   Ella → Yala → Galle

   Morning jeep safari in Yala National Park in search of leopards, elephants and sloth bears, then continue to Galle.
