   North to Jaffna

   Negombo → Jaffna

   Drive up the A9 through the Vanni to the Tamil heartland of Jaffna, with its fort, library and distinctive cuisine.

   Jaffna Peninsula & Anuradhapura

   Jaffna → Anuradhapura

   Visit Nagadeepa island and Keerimalai springs before heading south to the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

   Ancient Anuradhapura

   Anuradhapura → Sigiriya

   Explore the colossal dagobas and the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, then cross to Sigiriya via Ritigala forest monastery.

   Sigiriya & Dambulla

   Sigiriya → Dambulla → Sigiriya

   Early climb of the Lion Rock, the golden cave temples of Dambulla and an afternoon village experience.

   Day 6

   Knuckles Range

   Sigiriya → Knuckles → Kandy

   Trek a section of the Knuckles conservation forest with its cloud forests and paddy terraces, then descend into Kandy.

   Kandy to the Highlands

   Kandy → Nuwara Eliya

   Temple of the Tooth and Peradeniya gardens, then the winding tea-estate climb to Nuwara Eliya.

   Train to Ella

   Nuwara Eliya → Ella

   The famous blue train ride to Ella, the Nine Arch Bridge and a sunset at Little Adam's Peak.

   Ella → Sinharaja → Unawatuna

   Guided walk in the Sinharaja biosphere reserve with its endemic birds and giant trees, then on to the coast.
